I was extremely impressed with all the details of each character. Each batter has a distinct personality - from the boy who hops to the plate to the girl who says 'my game is really tennis, anyway' when she strikes out. The pace is a little slow, but not too fast for children. Everything is here, and everything is easy enough for kids. Fielding is accomplished by clicking where you want the ball thrown, and running is as simple as clicking in the direction you want the runner to advance. Hitters swing at the ball and can even see the strike zone. Pitchers choose the pitch as well as the placement.
Gameplay includes all the necessary elements.
1 Backyard Football 2001 2 Backyard Football 2004 3 Backyard Soccer (and MLS Editions) 3.1 Division Fields (Only in Season Play) 4 Backyard Basketball (Courts) 5 Backyard Basketball 2004 (Courts) 6 Backyard Baseball 2001 (Fields) 7 Backyard Baseball 2005 8 Sandlot Sluggers 9 Rookie Rush. These are the fields and courts appeared in the Backyard Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and Football games. In all, I feel that Backyard Baseball 2003 is another solid entry into the series. You can customize them if you want and that is cool, but what I really like is the way the game will track stats and it even has a hall of fame which for a stats nerd like me was a lot of fun. Backyard Baseball 2003 also puts a lot of effort into the actual players.
